In our research, we sought to answer the question of how parental education affects income. To do this, we used data from the 2005, 2011 and 2019 waves of EU-SILC, which all include information on parental education. We first examined the effect of education on income in each age group and then estimated the returns to higher own and parental education using regression analysis. Finally, we also used regression analysis and cross-tabulation analysis to show how the respondent's education level depends on parental education. Our results show that the effect of parental education is the main determinant of earnings. Higher parental education is mainly influenced by higher child education.
